Gaken Family uses Innovation, social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) to enable individuals, families, communities, and societies to improve their quality of life. Our approach recognizes that human be-haviour is complex—the result of a combi-nation of context-specific influences, including environmental factors, social norms, health policies, the quality of health and social services, and individual knowledge. Communication holds a vital and indispensable place in economic interventions. It has the potential to increase demand, utilization and service uptake. It also has an impact on knowledge, attitudes, behaviours, and practices influencing the spread and disease prevention. Hence in the quest for the effective control of HIV/AIDS and other communicable or preventable diseases communication for behavioural change is of critical importance. Gaken Family will employ a substantial set of crosscutting strategies that improve economic, health and social outcomes through positive influence. In designing SBCC components, we will draw on our considerable experience and expertise.
